‘Home’ – Soren Bebe Trio
Recorded 2015
I purchased this beautiful vinyl record recently, directly from Maestro Bebe, as it seems he is marketing his music his way and all power to him.
I am a sucker for a quality vinyl records and this pressing will not let you down.
The sleeve is lustrous and lovely to handle with a beautiful photo on the front of the sleeve of what I can only imagine to be Soren’s home. I am happy to imagine it is so, and in it sits his beautiful grand piano.
The disc itself is outstanding. A heavy vinyl pressing that feels like quality in your hands.
What strikes me about Soren’s compositions is how spacious the piano sounds providing plenty of room for the bassist Kaspar Tagel to ply his art.
The bass sounds brilliant, right up front in the mix with the piano, while the drummer Anders Mogensen applies the palette of his drumkit.
The music could easily be enjoyed as pleasant background music but playing this record solely in this way robs you of the seams of gold that deeper listening reveals.
These are seriously considered compositions. No impressionistic whimsy here.
Each piece sings their own song and tell their own tale, and this is the deceptive brilliance of the music.
Deeper listening rewards in aces.
Whether you purchase this on Vinyl or a C.D. you will instantly succumb under Soren’s spell.
