Another first for Søren Bebe Trio. Hot on the heels of their first stand-alone concerts in Germany on 15 and 17 June, Søren, Kasper and Anders have landed a gig on 15 November as part of the London Jazz Festival at the legendary Pizza Express Jazz Club in Soho.
“Don’t be fooled by the name: Pizza Express is a premier international jazz club and a highly sought-after venue for musicians all over the world. And the Festival itself is right up there as a top international event” explains Søren. “So we’re absolutely thrilled to have been invited. It’s also the first time we’ve played as a trio in the UK, which is equally exciting.”
And how did SBT’s other ‘first’ go in Germany? “Wonderfully” Søren says. “The house was full at Club Golem in Hamburg on 15 June, and we had another decent crowd in Berlin two nights’ later at the Lichtenrade Jazzfest. I’m very thankful to FatJazz’s Gabriel Coburger for our invitation to Golem, and to Lutz Fussangel for the Lichtenrade invite.”
“We played a couple of tracks from our upcoming new album at both shows, together with material from Eva and some earlier records, plus one or two standards. The audiences in Hamburg and Berlin were warm, friendly and appreciative, and we met lots of nice new people.”
Next stop for SBT: a concert on 8 July at MillFactory Studios in Copenhagen, which will also be broadcast live on Facebook. Details about this streaming will be available very soon on Søren’s Facebook page.
